Microsoft has recently published the new version of Visio® 2016. The ITIL® Process Map works very well with this latest edition of Visio, but nevertheless the appearance of Visio 2016 provided an opportunity to update the "ITIL repository add-in" for Visio that comes with the ITIL® Process Map.
The main difference between the old and the new versions of the add-in is that it now works with both the 32- and 64-bit editions of Visio. So you don't have to figure out any more if you have 32- or 64-bit Visio installed before starting the setup program.
We were also able to improve the add-in's speed, so updating the Visio shapes with current data from the repository now takes a little less time than before.
From a functional perspective, the new Visio add-in works in exactly the same way as the previous one. It is compatible with Visio 2010, 2013 and 2016 on Windows 7, 8 and 10.
If you have the add-in installed and it works, there is no urgent need for you to replace the old add-in with the new one, since the updated add-in offers no new functionality.
If you want to install the add-in on a computer for the first time, we recommend that you install the latest version.
