ITIL Implementation based on Process Templates

The ITIL Process Map is designed to support your ITIL and ISO 20000 initiative with easily accessible knowledge and ready-to-use process templates.

Most importantly, the ITIL Process Map V3

  • contains a clearly structured and detailed process model which explains how ITIL really works and does away with the need to sift through numerous ITIL books with thousands of pages
  • offers comprehensive and fully customizable process templates to speed up the tedious and time-consuming task of specifying and documenting your organization's ITIL processes

An additional "Implementation Guide in 10 Steps" gives detailed instructions on how to set up and carry out ITIL implementation projects based on the ITIL process templates (this information is also available in our IT Process Wiki).

Certification According to ISO 20000

The two central requirements of the ISO 20000 standard are as follows:

  • Use of a management approach according to the ISO standard 9001:2000, based upon the principles of Business Process Management and aimed at continuous quality improvement
  • Alignment of the IT processes with the requirements of the ISO 20000 standard, which broadly corresponds to ITIL

Introducing ITIL is a prerequisite for obtaining an ISO 20000 certificate, but not sufficient: It is equally important to prove that IT processes are documented, actively managed, and continually improved.

The ITIL Process Map with its ITIL process templates provides invaluable support in this respect, as it facilitates the creation of a high-quality process documentation which is the centre piece of any ISO 20000 certification initiative.

ITIL Process Templates for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises

The guiding ideas behind ITIL are valuable for businesses of all sizes, from large corporations to small and medium-sized businesses. What counts is to leverage the benefits of the ITIL principles, concentrating upon feasibility and relevance during the implementation.

Because it represents a wealth of ITIL implementation know-how at a cost comparable to a small number of consulting days, the ITIL Process Map enables small and medium-sized businesses to benefit from ITIL.

Switching from ITIL V2 to ITIL V3

The new ITIL V3 books are based very much on the principles known from ITIL V2, but there are no detailed instructions for switching to the new set of "Service Lifecycle" processes. As a result, the only advice available is a rough out-line of a two-step strategy for switching to ITIL V3:

  1. Take all your existing ITIL processes and plug them into the new Service Lifecycle process structure
  2. Benchmark the existing processes against the new ITIL V3 recommendations and replace, add or improve processes as appropriate

The ITIL Process Map with its ITIL process templates is ideally suited to support switching from ITIL V2 to V3 because it contains a complete ITIL-V3-compliant process structure which can be used to plug in any existing V2 processes.
